Superfood for cats, shelf stable

"I care for 2 outdoor cats that were abandoned. I try to feed them the best foods I can afford to avoid vet care, which I cannot afford. The older cat is around 14 yo with a few issues - skin allergies, congestion, arthritis. The younger is around 8 yo and seems in good health. I feed each around 1T of the Smack dry along with their wet foods, and they like it. I like that the ingredients are so good without any grains or fillers. I think of it as a superfood supplement for them."

Downgrade on ingredients for new recipe

"New recipe isn't as good as the old one, since they added pork and rockfish instead of pure chicken and salmon. I was able to smell the difference instantly right after I open the package. It doesn't smell as nice as before and I feel like it's not Samck anymore. My cat will eat it, but I can tell that she doesn't like it as much ( I usually mix this with other brand cat food, she used to finish Smack first and then turn to other brand, but with this recipe, she eats Smack the last). I don't understand why they would change the recipe as this feels like a downgrade instead of an improvement to me. Pork liver and heart are unwanted filler meat ingredients and rockfish is also a cheap and low quality fish. I assume that these new ingredients replaced a big portion of the original chicken and salmon ingredients and that's why it makes the smell so weird and not as pleasant. I understand that it might be hard for business in spite of bad economy and that might be why they want to cut down on ingredients, but I really hope they can bring back the original recipe, it would be fine for me to pay a little more for the original high-quality ingredients pet food. If this recipe stays I may need to say goodbye permanently to Smack."
